Why choose online tutoring?
Deciding to go with a tutor online means being able to study and learn but without leaving the comfort of your own home. Being online removes any geographical barriers or limitations and allows students to find tutors with the best knowledge that can’t be found locally.
How does online learning work?
There are not many differences between online and offline lessons. Both are face-to- face but online is just over a screen! There will be a video call platform used such as Zoom, Skype or MS Teams so the tutor and student can see and hear each other. Interactive apps are used during the tutoring session allowing everyone on the call to annotate, just like on a piece of paper. After the session, the annotated work can be referred to by the student or parents.
What age does my child have to be?
We provide services for all age groups at different stages of the learning process. From beginner English to advance as well as highly valued courses such as IELTS, EMSAT and CELPIP.
Is there any equipment or downloads needed?
An internet connection is required along with a computer, tablet or phone that has a webcam and speaker. Headphones can also be used by students if they prefer. Before the lessons begin the tutor will contact the student and discuss which platform best suites them. The student might have to download their preferred platform but there normally is a website version if they are unable to download it.
What happens if the technology doesn’t work?
Things can go wrong all the time, like a car breaking down on the way to a lesson. In the rare instance when technology doesn’t work, the tutor will suggest a suitable plan B that suites the individual's situation. For example, a possible suggestion could be switching to 4G.
Do students maintain their focus online?
Distractions being a concerning matter when it comes to online tutoring sessions is often not the case. The tutor is equipped to ensure the student is engaged at all times during the class. They will choose activities specifically suited to the student that will keep them engaged and actively participating ensuring that their focus is maintained. There are many more resources for the tutor to use in an online setting and many students prefer this.
How qualified are the teachers?
Our tutors are all native English speakers with degrees and additional qualifications such as PDGE, TEFL, CELTA and DELTA. They have a vast amount of experience in teaching people of all the ages, young children right through to adults. Each course is tailored to the individual so we can strengthen you in every aspect of the exam. As all our tutors have at least 7+ years experience in teaching and examining, they will also teach you exam tips and tricks to ensure you get the best grade possible.
